Abstract
The star mapper of the Hipparcos satellite was used to derive the B T and V T magnitudes of about 1 million stars, within the context of the Tycho program. The separation limit of the components of double stars was about 3 arcsec.
A least square method using Tchebychev polynomial approximation is proposed, in order to build the HR diagram of the components of the field double stars from the differences of magnitude of the components and from the (B T - V T ) color indices. This method was validated with simulations, and applied to the double stars of the Tycho Catalogue.
Based on observations made with the ESA Hipparcos satellite, and on work by the Tycho Consortium in collaboration with the INCA, FAST and NDAC Consortia
