Abstract
As by-products of the combustion of fossil fuels, polycyclic aromatic compounds (PAC) are ubiquitous in the human environment. Because of their carcinogenic or mutagenic properties, their identification and control in air, water, soils and food is warranted to protect human health and implement environmental quality standards.
