Abstract
In the older literature on the Faroese fish fauna (Svabo, 1782; Landt, 1800), both Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) and sea trout (Salmo trutta) are mentioned as present. In more recent works (Joensen and Tåning, 1970), however, salmon is not considered a native species.
