A quarterly econometric model for the Spanish economy

Abstract

This chapter presents a compact and aggregative model of the Spanish economy developed under two constraints: (a) data availability, and (b) search for the appropriate dynamic specification. The sampling period spans 1974 to 1983, and all equations have been tested against several possible misspecifications. This calls for a small model that aims at capturing the salient features of the Spanish economy in a stylized way. The model describes mainly the monetary side of the economy because of the first constraint.
