Abstract
The origin of coercivity has been examined with SEM and TEM in a series of Nd-Fe-B magnets with different Dy and Al concentrations. No obvious Al segregation has been observed at grain boundaries while Dy is often found there. The SEM data indicate that Al substitutions may change the structural morphology of the samples. Clear domain wall pinning has been observed at grain boundaries and Nd-rich inclusions.
