A Case for Liquid-Liquid Phase Segregation in Polyethylene Melts

Abstract

A pair of polyethylenes, one linear, one branched, have been studied after crystallization from melts of different concentration blends. Results obtained by TEM and DSC show striking differences with blend concentration and crystallization conditions. We are only able to interpret these results on the basis of liquid-liquid phase segregation.
