Multimedia Document Storage, Classification and Retrieval: Integrating the MULTOS System

The development of effective multimedia office document filing systems requires both optical and magnetic storage, combined use of indexing, text and image data access techniques, automatic document classification, and a flexible, intelligent user interface offering rich functionality to non-computer expert users. In this paper we present the latest developments in ESPRIT project MULTOS which led to an integrated prototype system with the above features.
