Isotropic Raman Study of Pre-reactive, Reactive and Post-reactive Processes in Liquids

Reactive and Flexible Molecules in Liquids

Part of the book series: NATO ASI Series ((ASIC,volume 291))

Abstract

Spectral manifestations in isotropic Raman Spectra of fast pre-reactive, reactive and post-reactive motions in the liquid phase are examined theoretically. The kinetics of the reaction process is analysed in the frame of a one-dimensional Smoluchowski equation. The resulting correlation function exibits two chemical modes and two modes generated by the pre-reactive and post-reactive processes. The possibilities of Raman spectroscopy to detect these latter motions are critically evaluated.
