Distribution of Dark Matter in Galaxies

The current evidence for dark matter in galaxies is briefly reviewed. While for ellipticals the evidence for dark halos is not yet overwhelming, for disk galaxies we can already start to constrain the distribution of the dark matter. The global M/L-ratios out to the largest radii where the tracers of the mass are still reliable are below the values of M/L currently found in groups. Attention is drawn to galaxies with low surface brightness disks, which may have peculiar halos.
