All industrial activities entail a certain risk of incidents/accidents and emergencies. Offshore oil and gas operations are not excluded, although every effort is made to prevent calamities.

It would be irresponsible of the industry if no plans and arrangements were made to cope with contingencies.

The offshore industry has prepared their plans and made their arrangements both within the individual companies, and in the wider context of mutual assistance and governmental liaison.
