Abstract

This chapter contains a summary of experiences gained while testing a high-resolution inversion algorithm designed for the estimation of reflection coefficient series from migrated seismic data. The algorithm is based on a one-dimensional seismic response model. When coupled to a closely and regularly spaced series of reflection coefficients obtained from well logs, the algorithm permits the stable estimation of reflection coefficient series away from a well with a potential resolution of about 5 m at depths of up to 2500 m.
