Up-Scaling In Heterogeneous Drag Reduction Systems

Heterogeneous drag reduction is obtained when concentrated polymer solutions are injected in turbulent pipe flows and the injected polymer thread stays intact. The friction behaviour of heterogeneous polymer solutions was measured in pipes of different diameters and by using different injector geometries. On the basis of these data an attempt is made to develop an upscaling method for heterogeneous drag reduction.
