Abstract
Amorphous fully aromatic polyamides can be prepared by multicomponent copolymerization. Injection mouldable products were polymerized via an acidolytic process, i e in the melt. The products show Tg up to 290 °C, respectable mechanical properties and they do not absorb common organic solvents. Similar amorphous aromatic polyamides were polymerized in solution, wet-spun, solution-impregnated and otherwise combined with reinforcing yarns in order to develop unidirectionally and bidirectionally reinforced composite intermediates.
