Radio Recombination Line Imaging of Sgr A

Recent Very Large Array observations of Sgr A West have been carried out at 8.3 and 14.7 GHz. The kinematics of the central 1–2 pc have been delineated. The electron temperature increase in the central bar towards Sgr A* found at 14.7 GHz by Schwarz et. al (1989) has been confirmed at 8.3 GHz. Zeeman observations of the H92 α line at 8.3 GHz have been carried out; the resulting upper limit to the magnetic field is about 15m Gauss.
