Abstract
This is a shortened and slightly adapted version of a paper by Chini, Krügel and Kreysa to appear in Astronomy and Astrophysics. It reports the detection of four nearby main-sequence stars at mm/submm wavelengths and its interpretation that this emission is due to dust particles which are, at least, a hundred times larger than interstellar grains. If one assumes that their size distribution follows a power law of the form n(a) ∝ a−3.5 then there is no limit on the upper boundary of the grain size and much larger bodies cannot be excluded observationally.
