Automatic measurement technique of the axial length using a new type of B-mode ultrasonography

Summary

We developed a new type of B-mode echography equipment using the linear electronic scanning technique. This new equipment determines the axial length using a 2-dimensional B-mode tomogram and is far more comprehensive than the conventional one dimensional A-mode. The operator can easily judge the axis and can precisely estimate the axial length in a short period of time. Furthermore using this method we can achieve 95% reliability with but a single measurement and the measurement of the axial length is done more precisely and more quickly than with the conventional A-mode method.
