  • F N Correia
Part of the NATO ASI Series book series (NSSE, volume 180)

Dr. Correia, in addition to serving as an Advanced Research Workshop organizer and workgroup chairman, presented an overview of the evolution of urban integrated water management in Portugal. This presentation was not part of the pre-workshop paper preparation process, but as it was found to be helpful to all workshop participants is included in brief form for completeness of the record. His presentation from the series of slides which follow was intended to illustrate two primary points:
  1. 1.

The diversity and setting of all water uses in any country has a significant influence on the management structures adopted.

  2. 2.

An orderly thought process can be applied to the functions intended to be serviced in any system to determine a workable allocation of authority and responsibility to the various levels of government and private interests.
