Abstract

The RC subunit s of PS II are designated as Dl and D2, and are encoded by psb A and psb D genes, respectively, in chloroplast genome (1–3). These subunits are intrinsic proteins containing several conserved regions in the primary structure and have a similar molecular mass of about 30 kDa. In addition, the amount of these proteins is relatively small. It has been, therefore, difficult to purify the Dl and D2 on a large scale.
