Abstract

Over the past decade two of the most important advances in gynecological surgery were the development of laparoscopic surgical procedures and the use of laser in intra-abdominal gynecological surgery. Laparoscopic surgery still has some limitations, mainly due to the difficulties in achieving complete hemostasis and the risks of extensive tissue damage from electrocautery. So the idea arose to use a laser during laparoscopy to increase the efficiency of surgical laparoscopic procedures. The use of a laser during a laparoscopy was first reported by Bruhat et al. in 1979 (1). But, there are only a few clinical reports because current laser technology does not permit routine or easy use. Laser hysteroscopy has also been reported by Goldrath (2) and Tadir (3).
