Abstract
A large number of computer based feedback controllers make use of the computer element simply as a numerical manipulation tool. At best a rudimentary jacketing arrangement is employed, on the lines of fail-safe switching when a measured level extends beyond a specified range. Hardware design has, of late, been directed largely towards a parallel implementation base [1] and it seems only sensible that controllers are redesigned to make use of this. A fault tolerant control scheme is described here, which is explicitly parallel in nature and therefore immediately suitable for parallel implementation, the overall procedure being directly dependent on the use of a hierarchically structured intelligent overseer
