Diffusion methods

In the last chapter, we considered long-term probability distributions of allele frequencies. We now take up the more difficult task of finding distributions for any given time t. A comprehensive treatment is beyond the scope of this book. Rather, our aim is to give enough to enable the reader to follow the extensive literature in this area, in particular the work of Kimura (see especially Kimura 1964), whose notation we shall usually follow.
