Abstract

Growing Triticale has become more and more popular in Germany, and reached about 230.000 ha which is about 3,5% of the total cereal area. In some regions, for example in Westfalia, Triticale is the number 3 cereal crop with more than 8% of the area grown for cereal grain.

Several factors must be considered to be of decisive influence for this development.

LASKO as the first variety with a combination of good characters had the ability to attract growers’ interest and surprise by excellent disease resistance and high yields.

An advantageous mix of sucessful growing and feeding of Triticale has been the basis of the sucess of Triticale in Germany.
