Abstract

In 1989–1992 at RIPP in Piešťany the production potential of a selected collection of 347 triticale cultivars was studied with the aim of their selection and utilization in breeding programs. The cultivars originated mainly from European countries, where selection of triticale has reached a high level. The yield of the bett triticale cultivars reached or exceeded 12 t.ha-1 and was significantly higher than the yield of the standard winter wheat variety “Viginta”. The most important yield components were number of ears per m2, number of grains in ear and thousand grain weight. The most productive cultivars were: Polish “CT 1/87”, “MT 7226–54”, “CHD 888”, “LT 1/88”, Bulgarian “No 23”, “GT-AD 1/87–88”, “GT-AD 2/87–88”, German “TSW 3001–8–7”, “TSW 2604”, “TSW 301”, “CIS 27466”, British “CWT 1981/DB 327”, “CWT 1982.7.27”, French “TBT 55–24”, “76245”, Swiss “CH 50393” and USA “Tritical 177/736”.
