Abstract

In 1986 the International Association of Hydrological Sciences published a volume on “Developments in the analysis of groundwater flow systems” (Engelen & Jones eds., 1986). That volume presented an overview of concepts and case studies evolving from the fundamental ideas of Tóth on the hierarchical nesting of gravity-driven groundwater flow systems.
