When I simplified Meinong’s universe so drastically, I remained painfully aware that this was following a Meinong of a period when he was intensely occupied with modern science and mathematics and logic. It is not all of Meinong. For Meinong the being of eternal or subsisting objects was very important. This is true especially in respect to values and obligations. He believes that ethics is not relative but eternal and absolute, except strictly personal values and those clearly dictated by a communal code.
