With the worldwide increase in production capacities and the emerging global availability of production capabilities, the success factors for all types of industrial production are changing due to intensive competition. Besides improved and effective internal order processing, intensive cooperation with external partners (both customers and potential competitors, suppliers, subcontractors, etc.) is counted among the basic requirements of modern production systems. Although the economic potential contained in such cooperative approaches has been sufficiently known for years, these possibilities have often been used in a non-systematic and/or inadequate way, even in customer order driven manufacturing.
