Abstract

In the ischaemic stroke, the infarct formed, is either generated by an embolus distal from the brain (atrial fibrilation, valvular heart disease, carotid atherosclerosis) or locally, in the endothelium of the cerebral vessels, gradually, as a symptom of a generalized vascular disease like diabetes mellitus.
