Abstract

Institute of Physics (IoP) is one of the leading supporters of physics, both as a discipline and as a profession, on the international stage. The Institute has its origins in the Physical Society of London, formed in 1874. In 1918, in response to demands for professional representation from physicists employed during the first World War, the Institute itself was founded as a professional and qualifying body.
