Abstract

Purpose We evaluate the impact of clinical drug analysis software (HYGEYA),which is embedded in the hospital information system (HIS) in the Second Hospital of Jilin University, in order to control overuse and abuse antimicrobials. Method HYGEYA is embedded in HIS with drugs basic information and set using rights limit in the HIS. The pharmacists could monitor the use of antimicrobial drugs in real time. Result The software which is embedded in HIS is able to control total antimicrobial use density, reduce medical treatment costs and the number of unnecessary antimicrobial prescriptions. Conclusion These results suggest that HYGEYA to control the use of antimicrobials is a feasible, cost-saving, suppressing the incidence of drug-resistant bacteria new modality that may help reduce the number of unnecessary antimicrobial prescriptions.
