Selecting and Developing High-Quality Academic Staff

Abstract

This chapter analyses and evaluates the policies employed by Saudi universities for staff selection and for evaluating and improving their performance as leaders of learning. The authors note that while most Saudi universities are attempting to implement professional development processes, including performance planning and review, in an attempt to improve the quality of teaching and learning, much still needs to be done.
