Abstract
This chapter supplies insight into nutrition in the consideration of its role in multiple aspects of Head and Neck Cancer. While generally promoted in the context of cancer prevention, there are nutritional and dietary aspects to cancer causation, diagnosis, therapy and survivorship. There is clearly a bidirectional relationship where the nutritional status of a patient contributes to their cancer risk and response as well as the occurrence of a Head and Neck Cancer contributes to the likelihood of poor nutritional status of a patient. Hence, nutritional interventions are warranted across the “life cycle” of Head and Neck Cancer. The reader will gain knowledge on the existing nutritional guidelines and the state of the science supporting the associations of nutrition and cancer highlighting important considerations specific to Head and Neck Cancer.
