A Need, a Desire, a Shared Responsibility: Professional Development for a New Public Education

  • Irene Balaguer FelipEmail author
Part of the International perspectives on early childhood education and development book series (CHILD, volume 6)

This Chapter explores challenges and possibilities for professional development of early childhood teachers as a key part of a necessary renewal of public education. Its considerations are reflective rather than empirical; it draws on 45 years’ experience of transformative practice in a difficult context and offers critical and provocative thoughts on reforming practices from within the educational profession. A short introduction written by one of the editors provides the necessary context and links it to the thematic discussion of this book.
