Diabetic Pregnancy in Animals II

  • Harold Kalter
Chapter

Abstract

The importance of spontaneous diabetes in animals for examining effects on prenatal development lies in the chance that it may offer a more valid model of the human condition than induced ones. Diabetes occurs in several animal species (Salans and Graham, Diabetes 31(Suppl 1): 1–102, 1982), but pregnancy has been described in few of them.
