Abstract

Mayer et al. (Hum Genet 45:43–50, 1978) reported an enlarged centromere on a chromosome 12, ascertained in a patient with mental retardation, that was also present in many normal relatives. A similar heteromorphism was reported in three Japanese A-bomb survivors [2].
