Thailand shares many similarities with other countries in developing Civic Education pedagogy. At the same time, it faces several unique challenges in light of its own historic and cultural context. This chapter begins by describing the geographic, historic, social, and political context of Thailand. The second part of the chapter describes the Thai educational system and recent educational reforms in the area of Social Studies and Civic Education. In the third part of the chapter, a survey of Thai teachers provides information about teachers perspectives on pedagogy in Civic Education. The chapter concludes by identifying a gap between the policy and implementation of Civic Education pedagogy and suggests several steps for improvement.
