Abstract

This chapter provides a general overview of the original version of Article 227 TEC, as included in the 1957 text of the Treaty. The background to and reasons for the Article, relevant territories and general aims of the provision are examined. A brief comparison with the corresponding provisions of the ECSC and Euratom Treaties is also given.
