Re-visiting the ‘Quiet Revolution’

  • Chapter
  • First Online:

Abstract

This chapter seeks to show how social awareness and relationships are transformed in schools that adopt values education approaches thoroughly and properly. It offers several stories that demonstrate how comprehension, sensitivity, community coherence and personal integrity are shaped by values education. It suggests that in terms of the direct effect of values education on teaching and learning, the quality of communication is so greatly transformed as to increase motivation and facilitate all understanding. The case study evaluation sitting behind the chapter relates to West Kidlington School, UK, the same school identified in Chapter 14.
