Samenvatting

Urogynaecologische aandoeningen, zowel de benigne als maligne, kunnen invloed hebben op seksualiteit. In dit hoofdstuk zullen vanuit een biopsychosociaal kader de factoren worden besproken waarmee de huisarts geconfronteerd kan worden. Dit zijn bijvoorbeeld hormonale en fysieke veranderingen ten gevolge van de aandoening zelf of de behandeling daarvoor. Ook psychische veranderingen ten gevolge van een veranderd lichaamsbeeld of seksuele beleving of veranderingen in de intieme relatie kunnen een rol spelen. Voor de huisarts is het van belang deze problemen te signaleren en bespreekbaar te maken en waar mogelijk eenvoudige interventies te bieden. Indien nodig zal de huisarts de patiënt adequaat verwijzen. Handvatten hiervoor worden gegeven.
