Hevig menstrueel bloedverlies en myomen

Samenvatting

Hevig menstrueel bloedverlies komt regelmatig voor als reden van komst in de huisartsenpraktijk. Het meest waarschijnlijke onderliggende probleem is afhankelijk van de leeftijd van de vrouw. Bij bijna de helft van de vrouwen kan een oorzaak gevonden worden, waaronder een myoom. We richten ons op het myoom omdat de achtergrond en behandelmogelijkheden van een myoom als oorzaak van heftig menstrueel bloedverlies minder bekend zijn bij de huisarts. Omdat de vrouw niet met de klacht myoom op het spreekuur zal komen maar met hevig vaginaal bloedverlies, worden ook de diagnostiek, oorzaken en behandelingen van hevig vaginaal bloedverlies zonder een specifieke oorzaak beschreven.
