Omgaan met suïcidaliteit bij de antisociale persoonlijkheidsstoornis

Samenvatting

De overheersende gedachte is dat mensen met een antisociale persoonlijkheidsstoornis (ASPS) vooral gericht zijn op nastreven van eigen gewin. Dat zij ook depressief kunnen zijn, en wanhopig, met suïcidaliteit als gevolg, is veel minder bekend. Hoe behandel je dat? Nadat we gegevens over suïcidaliteit bij persoonlijkheidsstoornissen in het algemeen hebben besproken, komen de gegevens bij ASPS aan bod en geven we een overzicht van risico verhogende en risico beschermende factoren. Een goede werkrelatie en commitment van de cliënt ten aanzien van in leven blijven is bij behandeling van suïcidaliteit van het grootste belang. Een verbatim verslag toont hoe suïciderisico getaxeerd kan worden, de relatie gevestigd en de cliënt tot commitment gebracht. Daarbij staat centraal dat de behandelaar zelf moet geloven in de haalbaarheid van behandeling, onbevooroordeeld en nieuwsgierig de cliënt tegemoet moet kunnen treden en moet kunnen invoegen in de wereld van de cliënt. Tot slot wordt het kader geschetst voor verdere behandeling.
