Emma is 4 jaar en wordt door de huisarts verwezen met de vraag of ze epilepsie heeft. Sinds enkele maanden heeft ze ‘s nachts aanvallen waarbij ze 20 seconden stopt met ademen en het hoofd iets achteroverbuigt. De huisarts denkt aanvankelijk aan vergrote tonsillen.
