We zagen dat de afkorting dsm-5 staat voor de vijfde editie van de Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, de ‘bijbel’ van de psychiatrie, waarin alle mogelijke diagnosen staan die psychiaters gebruiken in de praktijk van alledag. De vergelijking met de bijbel is verdedigbaar. Om te beginnen vanwege het formaat: dik! Maar ook vanwege de directieve aard van wat er in het grote boek (voor)geschreven staat.
