Samenvatting
De Nederlandse huisarts heeft een cruciale zorg in het zorgsysteem, die internationaal gezien vrijwel uniek is. De huisarts als poortwachter is van oudsher ingebed in de zorg en heeft ook bij de inwerkingtreding van de Zvw een wettelijke verankering gekregen. Ingegaan wordt ondermeer op de volgende vragen: Wat houdt de poortwachtersfunctie in, wat is de taak van de praktijkondersteuner, wat is het hoofdlijnenakkoord, wat is de functie van de NHG etc.
