The Future of ApoB: Moving from the Risk Prediction Paradigm to the Causal Exposure Paradigm

Book cover ApoB in Clinical Care

Abstract

Words matter. The words we choose to represent our beliefs govern how we act. Accordingly, the objective of this final chapter is to argue that we should change our language so that we will change our actions. The Risk Prediction Paradigm presently governs prevention of vascular disease. However, we believe prevention would be much more successful if we moved to the Causal Exposure Paradigm, which is simpler, more direct, and calls for earlier therapeutic intervention than the Risk Prediction Paradigm.231,248,249
