Samenvatting

De Franse laryngoloog Jean Tarneaud (1935, 1941) lijkt de eerste te zijn geweest die een redelijk helder en specifiek pathogenetisch mechanisme voor zogenaamde secundair organische stemplooiafwijkingen heeft voorgesteld, in het bijzonder stemplooinoduli en stemplooipoliepen. Van belang was het feit dat er een relatie werd gelegd tussen afwijkend stemgedrag, lokaal microtrauma van de stemplooirand, en weefselreactie als gevolg. In Nederland werd deze visie voornamelijk verspreid door Damsté (1970).
