Inleiding

Het AVSD bestaat uit een spectrum aan laesies met een gemeenschappelijke AV-junctie en abnormale AV-kleppen, tezamen bestaande uit vijf klepbladen (figuur 8.1): rechter anterosuperior klepblad, rechter inferior klepblad, superior bridging klepblad, inferior bridging klepblad en linker muraal klepblad. De term ‘bridging’ staat voor het uitstrekken van het anterior en posterior klepblad naar links en rechts lateraal. Vooral de mate van ‘bridging’ van het anterior bridging leaflet naar rechts-lateraal varieert sterk; de meest gebruikte indeling is van Rastelli.
