  • Een indicator is een meetbaar aspect van en heeft een signalerende functie voor de kwaliteit van geleverde zorg.

  • Richtlijnen zijn geschikt als basis voor zorginhoudelijke kwaliteitsindicatoren.

  • Voor het ontwikkelen van indicatoren op basis van richtlijnen wordt aanbevolen om te werken volgens een systematische methode.

  • Eenduidige interpretatie van indicatorscores vergt een registratiegids met afspraken over registratie en exacte formuleringen van de indicatoren, en uiteraard de naleving daarvan.

  • Indicatoren worden steeds meer gebruikt, maar soms passen indicatoren niet bij de doelstelling of de context.
