35 Behandeling van traumatische beschadigingen in het blijvende gebit

Samenvatting

Dentoalveolair trauma gaat dikwijls gepaard met bijkomende extraorale symptomen en paniek van het kind en de ouders. Daardoor kan meestal niet direct een langetermijnplanning worden opgesteld. In die situaties is het aan te bevelen het getraumatiseerde element steeds te behouden, totdat duidelijk is wat het definitieve behandelplan voor het gebit zal worden. Slechts in uitzonderingsgevallen kan direct na het trauma de beslissing worden genomen dat het betreffende element als verloren moet worden beschouwd.
