Samenvatting
Diabetes mellitus is een aandoening met diverse oorzaken die gekarakteriseerd wordt door een chronische hyperglykemie ten gevolge van een absoluut (productie) of relatief (werking) tekort aan insuline of door beide. De opvang en behandeling van de nieuwe patiënt en ontregelingen als diabetische ketoacidose en hypoglykemieën worden hier besproken.
