Voor veel artsen is het woord HUID(PASTA) een bekend ezelsbruggetje. Het staat voor de systemische ziekten waaraan moet worden gedacht bij gegeneraliseerde jeuk. De D vertegenwoordigt diabetes mellitus. Deze associatie is vooral het gevolg van een artikel van Greenwood uit 1927 die een prevalentie van 3% gegeneraliseerde jeuk beschreef bij een populatie van 500 mensen met diabetes
